Announces 2008 Driver of the Year

      Maverick Transportation announced Ben Eby of Caldwell, OH, as their 2008 Driver of the Year on Friday, January 30th, 2008 at their annual Driver of the Year Banquet.

      “This is awesome! This is even greater than winning Grand Champion at the Truck Driving Championships in Arkansas,” Eby stated with emotion. “Winning the Grand Champion was up to me alone, here the Maverick family voted me Driver of the Year, and it makes it that much more special.”

      Eby, a professional driver for thirty-three years, has been with Maverick for over thirteen of those. In addition to being named Grand Champion at the Arkansas Truck Driving Championships in 2006, he has been the recipient of  a 5 Year Safety Ring, a 10 Year Safety Watch, and a Million Mile Safe Driving Award. “Ben is a long time employee at Maverick,” said Fleet Manager Jerry Thurow. “He runs hard, works hard, and is great to work with. He is a professional in every way.”

      As Maverick’s August Driver of the Month for 2008, Eby was recognized for his combination of safe driving, positive attitude and willingness to go above what is asked. He attributes his success with Maverick to the company’s stability, open door policy, pay, equipment and the people.

      Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet who takes pride in his or her profession and the company, employs safety, and maintains Maverick standards in all they do.  All office and driver employees then vote from the twelve Drivers of the Month to select the Driver of the Year.  As Driver of the Year, Eby will receive an extra week of vacation time, a $2,500 bonus check, and a custom-made leather jacket.
