CONTINUES ITS LONG HISTORY OF HELPING OTHERS

Omaha, NE (January 14, 2009) – For many years Hill Brothers Transportation has shared its success with others in the Omaha Community by participating in Operation Others.  A project of Creighton Prep since the 1960s, “Operation Others is a non-profit, student-run organization that provides over 1,600 underprivileged Omaha families with two weeks worth of food during the Christmas season,” their Web site explains.  Hill Brothers has been a part of the Operation Others delivery team, dropping off the food at homes, since 1997.  “And it’s a wonderful experience,” said Laurie Floersch, administrator.

Operation Others works closely with grade-school teachers to obtain names of families in need, so food gets to the families who really need it.  Hill Brothers’ city drivers spend two to three days in December, using Hill trailers, to pick up food at the food bank and take it to a warehouse where students sort it into boxes that go to the families.  Hill drivers also pick up frozen turkeys.
Albert Hill, Hill Brothers co-owner, explained, “Operation Others is one way we can give back to a community that has contributed to our success.  We are honored to be a part of Creighton Prep’s successful program and proud of its students who continue this needed service from year-to-year.”

Hill Brothers’ Operation Others Core Team would like to thank every individual who participated in the preparation, packaging and delivery weekend.  Because of their hard work, the goal of feeding over 7,000 people this holiday season was easily reached.  Hill Brothers assists Operation Others with other projects throughout the year.

Hill Brother also continued the company’s tradition of supporting Toys for Tots for the 7th consecutive year.  This year, Hill Brothers collected 1070 unused toys with a minimum value of $5.00.  Over $200 worth of batteries was also collected for the toys.  According to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Web site, “The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.”
