Arrow Truck Sales Proud to Have Employee, Marty Crawford, As President of UTA

KANSAS CITY, MO - The Used Truck Association (UTA) has announced the election of Marty Crawford as President of the national organization.  The announcement was made during the association’s 9th Annual Convention in Reno, NV. November 9-12.  Crawford is currently a Mack Remarketer for Arrow Truck Sales in Atlanta, GA. and has been involved in the UTA since 1993.

“I first joined (UTA) when I worked for an International Dealer in Columbus, MS. and attended a Blue Book Convention in Charlotte, NC.  I wanted to get involved in an organization that supported other people in the used truck business.  UTA also gave me a chance to meet key players within the industry.  At that time, the organization had about 50 members.  Today it serves over 700 members.”

“In 1997, I was invited to join the Board of Directors – working on both the membership and election committees.  In 2002, I was elected Treasurer and have served in that capacity since then.”

Carl Heikel, President and CEO of Arrow Truck Sales, congratulated Marty on his appointment. “We are honored to have one of our employees as President of UTA. Jerry Nerman, founder of Arrow, was a co-founder of the UTA, so it seems quite appropriate to have Marty appointed to this position.” Heikel added, “Arrow has always been a strong supporter of UTA and the ethics and principles behind it.”

According to Crawford, the role of UTA is not only to spread the word about the importance of used trucks within the transportation industry, but also to portray a positive image of the industry as a whole.  Crawford noted that UTA also plays an important educational role for its members – such as offering programs designed to teach the basics of used truck sales to those just entering the business, as well as more advanced programs directed to Used Truck Managers.

During his term as President, Crawford hopes to continue building on the association’s positive image while achieving other personal goals.

“As President of UTA, I’m looking forward to a very productive term and hope to continue expanding the awareness and importance of used trucks within the transportation industry.  I will also encourage other UTA members to consider serving as officers on the Board so that our organization remains strong and relevant for many years to come.”

Crawford currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife of 29 years, Marietta. They both enjoy traveling and spending time with their four grown children and seven grandchildren.  As for hobbies, Crawford joked about his recent interest in golf.

“I started playing golf a few years ago and have managed to get worse at it each year.  I won the ‘Chicken Leg’ award two years in a row at the UTA/Jerome Nerman Charity Golf Tournament in Kansas City.”

Based in Stockbridge, GA., The Used Truck Association is an impartial organization comprised of used truck professionals and associated businesses committed to strengthening the used truck industry. The UTA is dedicated to providing a source of direction in the areas of professionalism and ethics, while promoting the highest standards of service and conduct. UTA provides a platform to foster the sharing of knowledge and supply resources to support the efforts of those involved in the used truck industry.
