GREATWIDE DEDICATED TRANSPORT NAMES DRIVERS OF THE YEAR; HONORS TOP 32 CAPACITY PROVIDERS.
’Safety Super Stars’ invited to North Texas spa resort. Winners receive cruise, week’s pay, ring.
DALLAS (March 19, 2008) – As part of Greatwide Dedicated Transport’s ongoing commitment to programs that reward and encourage safe driving, the company recently invited its top 32 capacity providers and their spouses to a North Texas resort for Greatwide’s first ‘Driver of the Year’ three-day recognition event. Paul Hodgson, of McCarran, Nev., was named Owner-Operator of the Year and Mark Gill, of Newark, Ca., was named Company Driver of the Year.
“We believe the culture of the Greatwide organization is truly unique in our industry, prioritizing in tangible ways our relationship with capacity providers. It is the strength of this relationship that enables us to cultivate an environment in which safety is a core company value,” commented Jeff Lester, chief risk officer for Greatwide. “These guys are our safety super stars, so it obviously makes sense to make a big deal about an event like this. We wanted to make it fun and rewarding, something truly special.”
Prior to the award ceremony, drivers and their spouses were invited to enjoy a variety of activities, including spa treatments, golfing, horse back riding, shooting at a local firing range, fishing and a tour of the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas.
Nominees were selected from among Greatwide Dedicated’s 4,000 capacity providers, and must have been recognized as a driver of the month during the previous twelve-month period. Nominees were evaluated based on their safe driving history, total number of years driving, as well as nomination letters from Greatwide management and customers. Collectively the 32 nominees represented 992 years of driving experience and have driven over 70 million safe miles. Finalists were evaluated by an independent panel comprised of Monty Dial of the Texas Department of Public Safety; Bill Webb of Fenway Partners; Michael Rogan of Marsh Insurance Group, and John Mondics of Mondics Insurance Group.
Ray Greer, president of Greatwide Dedicated Transport and CEO of Greatwide Logistics Services and the entire executive team of Greatwide attended the event. “These capacity providers represent the best of the best,” said Greer. “I’m proud to have the opportunity to recognize their achievements. Because of their commitment to safety and excellence in many areas of their lives, these individuals enable Greatwide to provide the superior customer service we’re known for. It’s because of our outstanding drivers that we’re able to do the things in this industry that our competition can’t.”
Winners of the two awards, “Owner-Operator of the Year ”, and “Company Driver of the Year” were given a Caribbean cruise, a week’s pay, and a Driver of the Year ring. All nominees received a jacket, a fleece blanket, a Wenger watch, and a Greatwide model truck.
