Announces 2007 Driver of the Year
Maverick Transportation announced Doug Herd of Marionville, MO, as their 2007 Driver of the Year on Friday, February 8th, 2008 at their annual Driver of the Year Banquet.
“Wow! I don’t even know what to say other than thank you all so much,” said Herd who found himself speechless for the first time. “This is such a huge honor…I just want to hug everyone here.”
Herd, a truck driver for twelve years, has been with Maverick for over three years. He defines the “Professional Driver.” In addition to his positive reputation throughout the fleet, he has been presented with a safety award for each year of service and is also a driver instructor in Maverick’s student program. “Doug strives to be the best that he can be and you can always count on him to do his job the right way,” said Fleet Manager Randy Payne. “He will make a great Driver of the Year.”
As Maverick’s March Driver of the Month for 2007, Herd was recognized for his combination of safe driving, positive attitude and willingness to go above what is asked. He attributes his success with Maverick to the people he gets to work with on a day-to-day basis both on the road and in the office.
Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet who takes pride in his or her profession and the company, employs safety, and maintains Maverick standards in all they do. All office and driver employees then vote from the twelve Drivers of the Month to select the Driver of the Year. As Driver of the Year, Herd will receive an extra week of vacation time, a $2,500 bonus check, and a custom-made leather jacket. "The Driver of the Year represents the excellence of our entire organization,” said Maverick President and COO Stephen Selig. "Our company holds this honor in very high regard."
