Greatwide Dedicated Transport Expands Senior Management Team
DALLAS (Feb. 6, 2008) – Greatwide Logistics Services – a national provider of non-asset-based transportation and third-party logistics services – announced today that James L. Kitz has joined Greatwide Dedicated Transport as vice president of sales.
In this position, Kitz will utilize his experience in sales and consulting to create value-added transportation solutions for customers that leverage both the strengths of Greatwide Dedicated Transport’s national Owner-Operator resources and the broader 3PL capabilities available through the overall Greatwide organization.
“Jim’s more than 20 year track record in transportation and logistics, specifically in the engineering and operations side of the business, strongly positions him to create innovative solutions for current and prospective customers,” said Ray Greer, president and CEO of Greatwide Logistics Services. “His consultative approach and demonstrated capabilities in applying deep experience in transportation design, terminal operations, warehousing and technology based asset tracking and management are well-aligned to our overall business strategies.”
Prior to joining Greatwide, Kitz served as vice president of business development at Exel Direct, Inc., where he was responsible for overall commercial strategy, growth, profitability and customer relationship management. His leadership enabled the company to move its focus from dedicated trucking to full-service supply chain logistics. In addition to Exel Direct, Kitz also has held positions at FedEx Logistics, Roadway Express, Yellow Freight, The Limited and United Parcel Service.
“While my focus for the past decade has been in leading business development teams, my core interest remains in closely collaborating with customers to find new solutions to business opportunities and challenges. Greatwide’s capabilities, focus on technology and broader business perspectives align well with this direction,” said Kitz. “Additionally, Greatwide’s relationship with several leading retailers, truck manufacturers and suppliers provides another shared interest where I believe I can provide additional value.”
Kitz is a member of the Council of Logistics Management, Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Warehousing Education and Research Council and the Association for Operations Management (APICS). He earned his bachelor of arts from Bowling Green State University and has completed continuing education programming in industrial engineering at Clemson University.
