Julius Rivers Completes Lease at Boyd
Julius Rivers, of Monroe, North Carolina, recently paid off his second lease at Boyd Bros. Transportation. “Paying off a lease is a lot like being Michael Jordan when he scores that goal he thinks he is going to miss. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment,” he said.
Rivers started with Boyd straight out of truck driving school eight years ago. “I went into the company driver program. Like everybody else, you come out with goals in mind,” he said. “My goal was to go into trucking for four years. Things have been better than I expected. I am content.”
Working at Boyd is something Rivers plans to continue as an owner operator. “I like Boyd,” he said. “I tell everybody this is a good company to work for. People can get you in a tailspin because they suffer the “green grass syndrome” or they are chasing rainbows. I found out you can lose a lot of time chasing rainbows and that you’re better off to work through any issues and move forward.”
Rivers, who is married to wife Linda, has six children. The success he found at Boyd enabled him to buy his wife a home and pay it off. For Rivers, however, success is more about being consistent and not jumping fences.
“I tell my wife that I have good ears. I hear a lot of people and you can tell if they are talking from sincerity or make believe,” he said. “Boyd is a good company and I am proud of it. I do okay with Boyd and I feel the people are genuine.”
