Walter Gilbert, III Completes Lease at Boyd

    “Since the moment I signed the lease on my 9900 International Eagle, I wanted to pay it off as quickly as possible,” Walter Gilbert, III, said. “It has taken 3 years and 4 months, but I did it. I even paid it off eight months early.”

    The completion of his truck lease with Boyd Bros. Transportation is a significant career milestone for Gilbert. “It means more independence and more freedom,” he said. “If it were not for the people who helped me, it would not have happened. I am most thankful to my co-workers Matt and Rhetta Stone and Tim Seller.”

    Gilbert, who lives in Fitzgerald, GA, loves the open road. He states, “I don’t have a particular region. I mainly travel throughout the middle part of the United States. My favorite run is North Carolina or South Carolina to Texas.”

    When asked about his working relationship at Boyd, Gilbert states, “They are just great folks. If you have a problem, you can talk to them. If you do your job, they are more than happy to do their job to help you.”

    Gilbert loves being an owner operator. He has been with Boyd for more than three years and plans to stay with the company. “I started with Boyd in June of 2003. I wouldn’t go anywhere else,” he said. “They treat you fair. It’s a great place and I have never had an issue with them.”

    Gilbert has been married to his wife, Tammy, for 20 years. They have one son named Dustin. “If it were not for my wife, I probably would not be here right now. I am so thankful for her support,” he said. “And, I am so thankful to the wonderful staff at Boyd who have made this possible for me.”
