Laubach Named 2006 Minnesota Truck Driver of the Year
ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) named Stephen Laubach, a professional truck driver for FedEx Freight East in Roseville as the 2006 Minnesota Truck Driver of the Year.
Laubach has been a professional truck driver for 40 years, and has been with FedEx Freight for the last four years. He currently drives line haul in twin trailers and runs from the Twin Cities to Des Moines, Iowa every night.
It is easy to see why he was selected as a Driver of the Month. During his 40-year career he has driven over 2.5 million accident free miles. He is also well respected by his company and co-workers. “Stephen is a well rounded driver who puts 100% into each and every day,” said his safety director John Pulliam.
Laubach lives in Oakdale, Minnesota. When he is not driving, he is an antique farm equipment enthusiast who owns three antique tractors. He and his wife, Lynnda, are also active in their church and community.
FedEx Freight is the leading U.S. provider of next-day and second-day regional, less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services.
Laubach was selected from among a group of distinguished drivers by a team of judges comprised of the division administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, a captain from the Minnesota State Patrol and a director at the Minnesota Department of Transportation. He was chosen based upon his safe driving record, job performance and community service. The Minnesota Truck Driver of the Year Program has been in existence since 1973.
The MTA is Minnesota’s largest trucking organization, representing the industry statewide with advocacy, public relations and support programs.
