Your Invited to a Knight in the Castle
Scranton, Penn – It’s KnightTime in the Castle. Sheryl Youngblood, Ph.D. (Trucker Doc), host of the KnightTime Radio Show, invites you to attend the 2nd Annual Truckers’ Charity Ball. This formal event will take place from 7:00 - Midnight on Saturday, February 17 th, 2007, at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple and Scottish Rite Cathedral, Scranton, Pennsylvania.
“Last year we found that truck drivers and other industry attendees wanted to treat their spouses and themselves to a mini-holiday,” said Sheryl, “so we have lined up several weekend events in addition to the Truckers’ Ball.”
She explains, “We begin on Friday afternoon with a private tour of Mack Trucks’ Macungie plant. I think all truck drivers should have the opportunity to watch trucks being assembled and roll off the line under their own power; it’s exciting. Then on Friday night we’ll get together for dinner and a lot of laughs.”
On Saturday, Ball attendees can shop at the Steamtown Mall or lose themselves in the Steamtown National Historic Site that houses one of the nation's largest collections of steam locomotives, the Steamtown's Technology Museum and the Trolley Museum or visit the Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science, and Art or enjoy the matinee performance of Cirque Dreams at the Cultural Center.
The Truckers’ Ball features food, open bar, a silent auction, the Rolling Steed Photography Exhibition and Competition, raffles, The Knight of the Road Awards, and surprises throughout the night. The band, Remember When, will be a delightfully entertaining tribute to past and current generation Knights of the Road.
Built in 1930, the Masonic Temple is a dramatic Neo-Gothic and Romanesque structure. Shopland Hall, in which the Ball will be held, is most reminiscent of a medieval castle. An elegant evening to enthrall attendees is being planned.
Discounted room rates have been arranged with several hotels. Sheryl advises to reserve your room early because the Ball is held during President’s Day weekend, and area hotels are frequently sold out during winter weekends. Shuttles will be provided from the hotels listed on the website and from the two local truck stops.
Information about lodging, formal wear rental, and corporate partnership opportunities are available on the website.
Proceeds from the Ball will go toward the Teddy Bear Fund that gives financial assistance to truck drivers and/or their families who experience a financial crises resulting from illness, injury or disaster
Invitations are extended to everyone. To get your key(s) to the castle, visit www.truckersball.org, and register on line. You may also email Sheryl at truckerdoc@hotmail and ask to be put on the invitation list, or call 87-Radiodoc. (877-234-6362)
