Employees rewarded for high sales day at Bolt Express
July 11, 2006, ( Toledo , Ohio ) – Employees and owner operators at Bolt Express, an expedite carrier based in Toledo , got boost from management on June 23 in response to the company’s highest revenue grossing day.
“We’re all very goal-oriented here, so everyone was very focused on this milestone,” says Emily Saunders, Bolt Express safety manager. “The management team had promised us that when we broke our one-day revenue record, they would wash everyone’s cars.”
Management paid up on June 23 by washing all the vehicles on the lot including those of any drivers who were there that day. “We enjoyed washing the cars,” says Ben Bauman, Bolt’s general manager. “It is fun and it lets everyone know that we’re always behind them.”
To help employees stay focused on goals, Bolt’s management team often plans morale-boosting, enjoyable activities. “We’ve had a masseuse come out to give everyone massages, we have cookouts, we have special events,” says Bauman. “There’s always something to keep us all united and moving ahead.”
Bolt’s method seems to be working as the company is on track to grow by 45 percent this year.
