C.R. England Increases Per Mile Pay
Shorter Hauls Receive Largest Percentage Increase
SALT LAKE CITY , UT ( June 27, 2006 ) – C.R. England, Inc., a national leader in refrigerated and dry truckload services, recently announced a pay increase for its drivers, effective Aug. 1, 2006 . On short haul loads company drivers will receive as much as a 66 percent increase and independent contractors will get up to a 72 percent increase per mile.
“Our drivers log the most miles in the industry,” said Mike Leavitt, Executive Director of Recruiting for C.R. England. “However, they often look at cents per mile and not length of trip so we increased the pay per mile for all loads and drivers. The combination of high miles and mileage pay makes this the best pay package in the industry.”
The length of haul for C.R. England drivers ranges from 50 to 2,000 miles per load, with the average being about 1,500 miles per load.
Based on the new pay scale company drivers will now earn up to 50 cents per mile and independent contractors earn up to $1.50 per mile.
“We’re committed to providing excellent income potential and benefits,” said Leavitt. “We realized shorter loads needed to be paid more and so we adjusted accordingly.”
The average starting salary for new drivers is $36,000, but trainers and independent operators can make more than $100,000 annually. C.R. England’s benefits also include graduated pay scale for more experienced drivers, the highest miles per unit, safety and fuel saving bonuses, awards for safe driving, loading and unloading pay, layover compensation, a personal driver manager and a generous family rider policy. An innovative “fuel cap” program that limits the cost of diesel fuel to $1.25 per gallon is a further benefit to independent contractors.
