Greatwide Logistics Services Acquires Southpoint Distributing, Inc.
Dallas , Texas ( June 16, 2006 ) – Greatwide Logistics Services announced today that the firm has acquired Southpoint Distributing, Inc., a privately held, dedicated contract carriage company. Based in Winter Haven , Florida and Auburn , Georgia , Southpoint provides dedicated contract carriage services from grocery distribution centers to retail supermarkets. The acquisition will immediately provide Greatwide with a significant increase in geographic coverage and services within the southeastern United States , a top priority in the company’s growth plans.

Founded in 1984 by Jack Johns, Southpoint Distributing reported revenues in excess of $50 million in 2005 and is experiencing substantial growth in 2006. With 275 employees, Southpoint lists Publix Super Markets as its largest customer. Publix is the largest and fastest growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States . The founder's sons, Doug Johns and Jeff Johns will remain active in the company in a senior management capacity.
