Food Drive Tips the Scales at 3,953 lbs.!

CRST Logistics, Inc. wanted to celebrate the holiday season by giving back to the communities where its employees live and work. The staff decided to undertake a friendly Food Drive Competition to support local food banks. The goal of the food drive, held the week of November 28 through December 2, was to discover which department could donate the most pounds of food per employee.

The competition took place at six locations—Cedar Rapids, Eldridge, Birmingham, St. Louis Company Store, Dallas Company Store and Kansas City Company Store. CRST Logistics collected 3,953 total pounds of food--nearly two tons--with the Accounting Group in Cedar Rapids collecting the most at 1,258 pounds, or 97 pounds per person. “It was fun to see the stacks of bags and boxes mount during the week,” said Sheryl Gates, Logistics executive administrative assistant. “The food banks were all thankful to receive these donations. The friendly competition helped build team spirit.”
