WMCA & Trucker Buddy Raise Funds to Assist Classrooms Hit by Hurricane Katrina

The Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA) Foundation and Trucker Buddy International have raised funds to assist classrooms in the Gulf Coast area hit by Hurricane Katrina.

“The WMCA wanted to provide some sort of disaster relief assistance and we felt that a partnership with Trucker Buddy International would be a good way to accomplish that goal,” said President Tom Howells.

WMCA members and other generous donors adopted nine classrooms in the gulf area by sending a $250 donation to the WMCA Foundation (Trucker Buddy Fund). Each classroom that received the funds was notified of their “sponsoring” company.

Trucker Buddy’s Executive Director, Ellen Voie, was happy to be involved in this effort, and said, “It is very rewarding to be able to see the impact that one donation can have on a class that is trying to study in temporary trailers and without proper school supplies.” Voie added, “ I know that every teacher who was able to supplement his or her classroom because of these generous donors is very appreciative of the contribution.”

The WMCA Foundation and Trucker Buddy International are thankful for the above companies who sent their checks for this project.
