CFI to Pay Drivers Based on Practical Miles

Joplin , MO --- CFI ( Contract Freighters, Inc.), an international truckload carrier based in Joplin , Missouri , is pleased to announce that they will begin compensating drivers based on Rand McNally Practical Route Miles rather than the industry-standard Short Route Miles.

Effective December 1, 2005, CFI will pay both company drivers and owner operators based on practical miles, an effort to more closely match paid miles with those miles that are actually driven. This change will be equivalent to a three and a half percent pay increase for CFI’s drivers and is the third driver compensation increase CFI has announced this year.

“This switch to practical routing pay is another step to ensure that our CFI drivers and owner operators are among the most highly compensated in the industry,” remarks Herb Schmidt, President of CFI. “We are known for our excellent service, and our professional drivers deserve the credit. We are proud to be able to announce this increase.”

CFI, founded in 1951, operates over 2,400 tractors and over 7,400 trailers and transports a variety of goods throughout the contiguous United States and Canada . CFI interlines with Mexican carriers at various border crossings to provide through-trailer service to Mexico. In addition to its Joplin headquarters, CFI operates four terminals and numerous drop lots along the border and throughout the United States. CFI and its subsidiaries* have 37 sales offices throughout North America and a work force of 3,000 people. The driver fleet is comprised of both company drivers and independent contractors. CFI’s website can be found on the Internet at www.cfi-us.com. CFI’s site is also available in Spanish, located at www.cfi-mx.com.
