MEDIA ADVISORY
JULY KNIGHT OF THE ROAD MOST EXCELLENT AWARD
Trucker Doc, Sheryl Youngblood, Ph.D., host of the KnightTime Radio Show, and the Board of Directors of KnightTime, Inc. announce that Owner-Operator, Glen White of Avoca, Pennsylvania, has been awarded the Knight of the Road Most Excellent Award for July 2005. “It is very fitting that Glen should receive the first award,” said Sheryl Youngblood, “because he was one of the first truck drivers to call into the KnightTime Radio Show to offer his support. We knew from his first contact that Glen was an exemplar of the Knights of the Road.”
The Knights of the Road Program was launched in March 2005 to restore the image of truck drivers as the Knights of the Road and to reward drivers for their Good Work of kindness, professionalism, and service to the industry’s image. Truck drivers who join the Knight of the Road Program voluntarily commit to a Code of Chivalry that encompasses actions and attitudes of Honor, Valor, Fervor and Ardor.
Glen White, an Expediter for Fed Ex, has 30 years of driving experience. His arduous promotion of safety has earned him fifteen years of annual safety and million-mile safe driving awards. Glen’s driving expertise resulted in second and third finishes in state rodeo championships. He tirelessly works to promote the image and well-being of truck drivers through his participation in Trucker Buddy, the Highway Interdependence Day, KnightTime Radio show, speaking engagements, and OOIDA. Most importantly, Glen promotes the image of truck drivers through the honorable way in which he conducts himself and his business. Along the way, he encourages his fellow drivers, mentors newbies, and moderates a drivers’ forum on ExpediterWorld.com
“We currently have about 300 members in this program, and I’m constantly surprised at the number of charitable organizations and volunteer activities in which these truck drivers are involved,” Sheryl stated, “ Their participation is particularly amazing when you consider that they are on the road and working 14 hours a day. Glen’s fervor is evident in his many random acts of kindness and his sponsorships in the Christian Children’s Fund, the Feed the Children Program, the Coral Ridge Ministry, and Reclaiming America.
Glen will be honored with a Knight Statue and a jacket displaying the four shields of Honor, Valor Fervor, and Ardor at the International Highway Interdependence Day on September 10, 2005.
