Landstar names Employees of the Month
     
Landstar System named Rhonda Hall and Jackie Croft its November Employees of the Month at the company’s service centers in Rockford, IL, and Jacksonville, FL, respectively. Hall, an administrative assistant in the Information Services department, has been with Landstar for 10 years. Croft, an agency services coordinator in the Agent and Technology Services department, has been with Landstar for five years. Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens commended Hall and Croft on their dedication to a job well done.

MGM Transport salutes million-mile drivers

MGM Transport Corp. recently recognized the following million-miler drivers: George Church (1,459,872 miles, hired in 1987), David Powell (1,211,791 miles, hired in 1991), James Lindsey (1,449,972 miles, hired in 1994), Tim Ledbetter (1,067,630 miles, hired in 1998), David Smith (1,244,975 miles, hired in 1999) and Ronald Norman (1,022,000 miles, hired in 2001). The drivers will be honored at the company’s Winter Safety Meeting and given a MGM million-mile jacket acknowledging their accomplishment.

Schneider sharpens emergency prep skills
  
Schneider National closed out Disaster Preparedness Month in September by hosting an emergency preparedness exercise for company and hazardous materials responders. Teams worked through various scenarios while Schneider instructors monitored their activities and provided feedback about how each situation was handled. The exercise is the most recent example of the company’s involvement in community emergency preparedness training.

Central Freight expands wellness program 

Central Freight based in Waco, TX, has expanded its health and wellness program for employees by installing a blood pressure ma-chine at the company’s headquarters. Central Freight, proud sponsors of the Healthy Trucking Initiative, provides their employees with free health education resources and programs to help them achieve and maintain safe blood pressure levels and overall health.

      
ACS partners with UPS

Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) has completed its new TripPak Services facilities in Louisville, KY and is now partnering with UPS following its transition from its former location in Wilmington, OH. “Our partnership with UPS gives our clients more choices and greater convenience, without any price changes,” said Kelley Walkup, division vice president and general manager of ACS Expedited Solutions. 

 

Troop Transition announces new program 
         
Troop Transition, a unique career transition program designed for the exclusive use of those who are serving in the United States Armed Forces, recently unveiled Troops 2 Truckers, a new program that targets service members seeking post-service civilian em-ployment in the trucking industry. “Troops 2 Truckers not only provides a path to employment for troops but also helps meet the trucking industry’s need for drivers,” says Kevin M. Denny, CEO of Troop Transition.
