Landstar names Employees of the Month 
   
Landstar System named Rhonda Hall and Jackie Croft its November Employees of the Month at the company’s service centers in Rockford, IL, and Jacksonville, FL, respectively. Hall, an administrative assistant in the Information Services department, has been with Landstar for 10 years. Croft, an agency services coordinator in the Agent and Technology Services department, has been with Landstar for five years. Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens commended Hall and Croft on their dedication to a job well done.

Central Freight expands wellness program 

Central Freight based in Waco, TX, has expanded its health and wellness program for employees by installing a blood pressure ma-chine at the company’s headquarters. TCA officials meet with Obama’s transition team
     
Safety, infrastructure and the environment were three of the topics that Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) representatives recently discussed with President-elect Barack Obama’s Transportation Transition Team and current Department of Transportation (DOT) employees. The purpose of the meeting was to highlight issues confronting the trucking industry and to garner TCA’s insights into the challenges facing DOT. “We had the opportunity to present our views on the vital issues of the day as well as the future,” said TCA Chairman Ray Haight.

 

Emerson names Schneider top supplier
 
Schneider Logistics has been named a Marquee Supplier by St. Louis-based Emerson, a global leader in technology and engineering. Emerson’s Marquee Supplier award recognizes the contributions and achievements of the top 38 global suppliers in meeting Emerson’s critical production and delivery needs around the world.

 

CRST opens new training center 
       
CRST (Cedar Rapids Steel Transport) opened a new training and lodging center at the CRST complex on 16th Avenue in Cedar Rapids, IA. The $3 million facility is a two-story, 36,000 square foot building that includes a game room complete with pool tables, a big screen TV room, a patio with grills, Internet access, vending, laundry and sleeping rooms with individual temperature control units. Drivers also have immediate access to CRST personnel to assist them with all their training, safety and any operational needs.

 
ACS partners with UPS

Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) has completed its new TripPak Services facilities in Louisville, KY and is now partnering with UPS following its transition from its former location in Wilmington, OH. “Our partnership with UPS gives our clients more choices and greater convenience, without any price changes,” said Kelley Walkup, division vice president and general manager of ACS Expedited Solutions.
