Dart joins Amber Alert Highway Network
An Amber Alert mobilizes a community when an abducted child is believed to be in imminent danger of injury or death. Dart Transit Company and its professional truck drivers are joining the Amber Alert Highway Network. When an alert is issued, a satellite message is quickly sent to trucks in the area that are equipped with QualComm mobile communication equipment. The messages include in-formation about the child, suspected abductor and the suspect’s vehicle.

Marten Scholarship Recipients
Marten Transport has named eight recipients of the 2006 Randolph L. Marten Scholarship Program. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be a dependent child of a Marten Transport employee. The $1,500 scholarships are intended to further the recipient's college education. Since the inception of the program, the company has presented 58 students with educational scholarships.

Western Express updates fleet
Despite having one of the newest fleets in the industry, Western Express is again updating its fleet; 2007 models are already arriving to re-place the 2004 models. “We care about our drivers, and want them to have the best equipment without worrying about constant breakdowns,” said Matt Neal, director of recruiting.

Ryan aims at another Pikes Peak record
Big rig racer Mike Ryan conducted the annual test run of his Freightliner Century Class S/T race truck up Pikes Peak near Colorado Springs, CO on June 3-4. This one-of-a-kind race truck was hand built specifically for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Ryan is currently the record holder with a time of 12.46.81 and will be competing for his ninth win and sixth record on July 1.
Hy-Drive Technologies introduces HGS
Hy-Drive Technologies announced the commercial availability of its G2 hydrogen generating system (HGS). The system works by injecting small amounts of hydrogen gas into the combustion chamber of a regular internal combustion engine, creating an enriched air mixture and a more complete and faster burn which results in reduced emissions, improved fuel efficiency and more engine torque.
Millis Transfer raises per diem rate
Millis Transfer increased the company’s per diem rate from 8 cents per mile to 10 cents per mile. Drivers can also earn two additional weeks of vacation during their first year with the company.
Hogan raises pay for owner-operators
Hogan Transport is raising its owner-operator pay to 90 cents per mile or 91.5 cents per mile, depending on whether Hogan provides plates. In addition to higher pay, owner-operators enjoy pay for all miles both dispatched and empty, no up front escrow required, paid permits and tolls, weekly settlements and more.
Sunco congratulates owner-operator
Sunco Carriers named Steve Jacoby as its 2005 Owner-Operator of the Year. Jacoby, a Sunco partner since June 2002, is currently in the Florida Intrastate fleet.
