Excited about 2006!

January is an exciting time of the year for everyone at Robert Yates Racing. I think everyone feels refreshed after a little time off for the holidays and ready to get back into the swing of things for the upcoming season.

Looking around the shop, everything looks great. We’ve got a brand new paint scheme for our #38 M&M’S® Ford and new uniforms for the Chocolate Thunder Pit Crew. We’ve got a shop of brand new Ford Focus race cars and everyone is confident that our team can be the Nextel Cup Series Champions for the 2006 season.

Our major change during the off-season was hiring Tommy Baldwin Jr. to serve as crew chief for our team. Tommy is a native of Bellport, NY, so needless to say his accent sounds a little different than my Southern Virginia drawl, but I think we are going to have great chemistry on the track. Tommy has had a lot of success. He has a Daytona 500 victory under his belt and we’d like to add a second one this February.

Off the track, my sponsor M&M’S Chocolate Candies have a lot of cool things planned for this season. They start their planning for the upcoming year around July of the season prior so that we can have all of our new cars, uniforms and photos ready way in advance of Daytona. I’ve sent along a couple of photos of our new look for this season. One of my favorite things about having M&M’S as a sponsor is how colorful everything is. Whether it’s on the track or on the road heading to the next race, you can’t miss the M&M’S Racing Team.

We’re excited about a new year and sharing our success with all of you.

Until next time …

Elliott
