Heartland announces pay increase

Coralville, IA-based Heartland Express, Inc., has announced a driver pay increase of four cents per mile. This will take pay for over-the-road company drivers to 50¢ per mile and owner-operators to 95¢ per mile before additional pay for fuel stabilization. Heart-land’s GREEN MILE$ program (an additional bonus for drivers who run in the northeast area of the country known as the Green Zone) will continue to pay a four cent premium per mile, for a top pay of 54¢ per mile. Russell Gerdin, president and CEO of Heart-land stated, “Drivers simply need to earn more. I think that offering fifty cents per mile is a step in this direction.”

Arrow announces million-mile drivers

Arrow Trucking Company announced that the following drivers reached the million-mile mark in 2005: Carl Adams, Mark An-derson, Daniel Armstrong, James Brinsfield, Michael Coger, William Currie, Brian Dever, Tomislav Dukic, Doug Freeman, Jack Griggs, Roger Keele, Jeffery Keen, Fred Kluthe, Ro-nald Kunce, Ronald Maxwell, Larry Miele, Larry Pryor, Joaquin Rueda, Jeff Steele, Stephen Stanley, John Martin (two million miles) and Mike Savage (two million miles).

Hill Brothers honors long-time drivers

Hill Brothers Transportation recognized Ray-mond “Joe” Brooks of Bonner Springs, KS for having achieved 1.5 million safe miles throughout his tenure at Hill Brothers. Hill Brothers Transportation also recognized Russell Proplesch of Omaha, NE for having achieved 750,000 safe miles at the company.

Kennesaw pays $10,000 bonuses

For the last three years, Kennesaw Transport-ation awarded a $10,000 seniority bonus to all company drivers who achieved five years of service at the company. During that time, 70 drivers have received the bonus, including 22 drivers this past year alone.

C.R. England announces caps fuel costs

C.R. England announced its England Fuel Cap program for independent contractors in which participants pay only $1.25 per gallon nationwide, no matter the pump price. The network of eligible fuel stops includes any stop provided by the fuel optimizer for the planned trip, C.R. England yards with fuel pumps and seven major fuel stop chains.
