Rocky Garcia — Arnold Transportation Services
The sun shone brightly as the day began. The quiet of the morning broke as a group of men on a fishing getaway stepped out of a plantation-style lodge. Among them was an expert fisherman ready to share secrets of the trade. The group eased their way toward the water, eagerly anticipating speckled trout, redfish and bass. Through it all, the crew stood ready with cameras rolling to capture the excitement for national television.
Driver Rocky Garcia experienced this trip recently, thanks to a “Choose Your Adventure” referral campaign at Arnold Transportation. For Rocky, a professional driver since 1982, the trip certainly was earned. In fact, he referred eight drivers to the company in just three months. “I wanted the trip,” he says, noting that fishing is one of his most enjoyable hobbies.
In May, Rocky stayed in the luxurious Grosse Savanne Lodge in Lake Charles, LA. Brock Ray of the “Better Builts World of Outdoors” TV show arrived with Rocky to lead him on the expedition. For two days, Rocky took in the scenery and enjoyed the opportunity to fish in both fresh and salt water. Rocky, a Texas resident, experienced bass fishing outside his home state for the first time. Rocky and the group saw a variety of birds and other wildlife, including alligators, in addition to the wide variety of plant life and fish in the area.
“I was able to put worries and work to the side and just have fun,” says Rocky. “We were just a bunch of guys fishing, talking and having a good time.”
Rocky’s adventure wasn’t quite complete, even after going back home to his truck. The excursion will be broadcast nationally on Ray’s show, which can be seen on the “Men’s Channel,” “Sportsman Channel” and “Faith Channel.” In addition, Rocky will be able to relive his adventure anytime with the tape that will be supplied to him before the show actually airs.
Back at work, Rocky’s goal is to aim for his two million safe mile award (currently he has around 1.5 million safe miles). He is quick to credit Arnold with being a good company to work for.
“Drivers appreciate any added excitement, like the referral program,” he says. “They’ll really go for it.”
Rocky, an Arnold driver for more than 16 years, says the time he and other drivers have spent with the company is a testament to how they are treated there.
The Arnold “Choose Your Adventure” referral campaign awarded drivers with an $800 bonus for each referred driver that completed 30 days of service. In addition, the first 50 referring drivers were entered in a drawing to receive a choice of a dream hunting or fishing trip with Ray and an appearance on his television show.
The staff of Over the Road and Pro Trucker magazines would like to wish Rocky continued success with Arnold Transport-ation Services.
