Seward Motor Freight Celebrates Success
Seward Motor Freight hosted a gathering to recognize the success of Wayne and Joanie Tanderup, the company’s owners since 1969. Safety Director Erich Helge emceed the event, attended by friends, customers, suppliers and drivers. Driver Roger Clark was awarded the keys to a new Peterbilt for his safety record over the past five years. See their ad on page 109!
Arnold Transportation Holds Truck Rodeo
Arnold Transportation announced the winners of its 2005 Truck Rodeo. Larry Hagen, Shaun Steinhilber and Mac Windom placed first, second and third, respectively, in the day cab event. Lofton Hasse, Jules Scuderi and James Bowman finished one, two, three, respectively, in the sleeper division. Leonard Martin and Joe Dawson both won the truck beauty contests. Paschall Truck Lines Honors Top Drivers
Paschall Truck Lines (PTL) congratulates the winners of the March 2005 Company Driver and Owner-Operator of the Month Awards. Samuel Maier is the Company Driver of the Month, and Albert and Ida White are the Owner-Operators of the Month. Maier has been with PTL for more than 10 years. He recently won a 1.2-million-mile safety award at PTL. Albert and Ida White have been married for 17 years. Albert has completed 900,000 safe miles and Ida has 800,000. See their ad on page 7!
Barr-Nunn Boosts Pay
Barr-Nunn raised its pay package for company drivers to 39 cents per mile for drivers with up to six years OTR experience and 40 cents per mile for drivers with seven or more years of experience. Drivers earn an additional 1-cent per mile as a 401(k) contribution from Barr-Nunn. The company also added PrePass Plus to its long list of benefits.
CalArk Trucking Couple Receives Award
The Arkansas Trucking Association named Mary and Joe Hester as the organization’s top truck drivers of 2005. The Hesters drive for CalArk Trucking. The Hesters have operated as a driver team since 1992. The couple has driven more than 3.2 million miles without a chargeable accident.
Roush Hustles Off with Pit Crew Championship
The #97 Roush Racing team walked off with $100,000 for first prize in the National Pit Crew Championship Powered by Tyson held at the Pit Instruction and Training facility in Mooresville, NC. Thirty-seven teams from both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series participated in the event.
Hornady Announces New Home Time and Pay Packages
Hornady Transportation can now guarantee that drivers get home every weekend in a sizable portion of their line haul hiring area without decreasing drivers’ weekly average miles. Besides more home time, the ceiling rate for the line haul fleet has increased from 40 cents to 41 cents per mile, not including tarping pay and safety bonuses. The regional pay package was also increased.
