Driven Women
Truly Driven Women
While surfing the Internet, I stumbled onto a Website for female truckers, and my curiosity was piqued. Many women who drive professionally don’t realize all the opportunities available to grow their careers outside of the cab. Here are a few examples of how truckin’ women manage their truckin’ careers.
Margie began teaming with her ex-husband, who was an owner-operator. Like a good number of us, they divorced and she returned to lettering trucks and trailers for a living. Then she figured out that truckers really were computer savvy, and started a Web site to help truckers find driving jobs. Today, Margie owns 14 Web sites devoted to truckers, one specifically for the ladies!
Lynn, a former Playboy Bunny, joined her husband, a former police officer, in the truck and began hauling highly sensitive freight. Together they gross over $250,000 per year. Today, she and her husband have a fleet of trucks and Lynn is the president.
KC pulled pups (small box trailers) around the mid-Atlantic region for two years until she got bored. She then graduated to pulling 53-footers cross country. After back surgery, her driving career was over. Today, KC is the VP of Safety for a carrier, responsible for many trucks and drivers.
Way to go ladies!
Keep all rolling safely, and if you can’t, hand in your CDL.
