Country road, take me home

They say that the older you get, the faster time flies. I’m not sure if that’s a physical law of nature or a psychological one, but as someone who has been to more than his fair share of rodeos, it definitely rings true. Where does all of that time go?

As a new year approaches, it’s only natural that we should reflect back upon the year gone by and look forward to the year ahead. Even though 2006 seemingly zoomed by at the speed of light, it will no doubt be remembered as the year that fuel prices roared past record highs, freight reached record levels, many carriers enjoyed record profits, and the driver shortage re-entered record territory in terms of supply and demand.

Where things go from here is anyone’s guess. Most of the economic indicators we’ve seen are positive, but you never know what’s around the next turn in the road.

It’s comforting to know, however, that the same road can also take you home for the holidays. While the economy ebbs and flows, one thing remains constant: the love of family and friends. As always, all of us at Over the Road and Pro Trucker magazines wish you and your family a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
