Driven Women

Enough!

Being aware of what's going on in your profession is critical. First, you won’t be surprised when something game-changing happens. Second, ignorance kills.
What if the government initiated a new tax that reduced your take home pay by 15 percent? Not only did you not try to fight the bill, but you were caught off-guard when your check was $150 short. One might be a little annoyed, yes?
While my examples are exaggerated, surprises happen to truckers every day, and yet all you hear is talk on the CB and no action. Complaining about him, her and them. What about you? What did you do to prevent what’s wrong and support what’s right?
Just like voting for elected officials, if you do nothing, you are at fault. Enough!
Here are three online resources to read and bookmark:
•            Truck Driver News – truckdriversnews.com
Current events and plenty of links to other resources
•            American Trucking Association – truckline.com
They provide insight into what’s happening at the government level
•            OOIDA – ooida.com
Even if you’re not an O/O, this is worth checking out. O/Os are usually very aware of what’s going on in their industry.
Lastly, opening yourself up to information and ideas often triggers new opportunities for the individual. You may come up with the next big idea in trucking!
Get informed. Get active. Be smart.
            Cheers,
            GG
