Dealing with uncertainty

The summer show season is now in our rear view mirror, and the fall season is quickly approaching. From the feedback I have heard from so many of you, it’s been much easier of late to find the driving job that you are seeking, and I am very happy for you!
I know that there is a great deal of uncertainty with regard to the economy, future government regulations, etc., so we must stay as prepared as possible for whatever changes may surface. That’s easier said than done, but the more responsible and prepared you are now, the more ahead of the game you’ll be going forward.
Everyone in the industry has serious concerns about CSA 2010 and the implications that come with those regulations. However, we must also remember that regardless of the new criteria that may come our way, each of us has an obligation to operate as safe and efficiently as possible for everyone’s sake.
Many of you have been in this profession for well over 20 years, and you all deserve much more than a pat on the back. The saying “without trucks, America stops” is 100-percent accurate, and for that, you should be saluted. I wish you safe travels on your journeys, and that you find your dream career opportunity. This issue is filled with potential employers that would love to have you with them until you decide to retire!
