Prime drivers take top state honors

Three Prime Inc. drivers took home top honors at the 43rd Annual Missouri Truck Driving Championships sponsored by the Missouri Trucking Association. Prime’s Michael Fenton was named “Rookie of the Year” and also placed first in the Tank Truck Class. Paul Blessing of Prime placed first in the Sleeper Berth Class, while Prime’s Duane Grimme placed first in the Flatbed Class. All three earned entries to the American Trucking Association’s National Truck Driving Championships in August.

Schneider repeats as K-C’s Carrier of the Year 
     
Schneider National was named Carrier of the Year by Kimberly-Clark for the second consecutive year. Kimberly-Clark provides some of the world’s most recognized consumer brands serving more than 150 countries. “Schneider is our go-to carrier, providing our entire organization with the service and value we require,” says Steve Harmon, vice president of transportation for Kimberly-Clark.

 

Landstar’s quarterly revenues up 31 percent
      
Landstar System, Inc. reported a 31 percent increase in revenue to $641.7 million in the 2010 second quarter, up from $491.2 million in the 2009 second quarter. Net income for the 2010 second quarter was $24.4 million, or $0.49 per diluted share, compared to $17.9 million, or $0.35 per diluted share for the 2009 second quarter. Operating income increased 34 percent to $40.0 million in the 2010 second quarter compared to $29.8 million in the 2009 second quarter.

 

Koch boosts company drivers’ pay
 
As of Aug. 1, Koch Trucking company drivers began receiving an increase of 1 cent per mile to their base mileage pay rate. Koch Companies is also providing an additional 1-cent per mile pay increase to all drivers with a current Hazmat endorsement. Drivers who are not currently Hazmat endorsed will receive the 1-cent hazmat differential upon receipt of their endorsement. Due to these increases, company drivers can now start with Koch Companies at a pay rate between 34 and 39 cents per mile, depending on experience. “We appreciate the efforts of all of our drivers, and we are pleased to offer them this deserved increase in compensation,” says Greg Iverson, director of recruiting at Koch.

 

Barr-Nunn salutes million-mile drivers
 
Barr-Nunn Transportation announced that four of its experienced drivers have safely driven more than one million miles for the company, with driver Michael “Winn” Holt reaching the two-million mile mark. Drivers James Settle, Curtis Reynolds and Harry Campbell all reached the 1.5 million mile mark with the carrier. “Barr-Nunn is a really good company, they really try to keep us loaded and we’re with them for so long that they just keep us running because they know we will get the job done for them,” Campbell says.
