Prime Inc. recognizes milestone drivers
Prime Inc. recognized the accomplishments of four drivers who have completed one million or two million safe driving miles. “Achieving a million miles without a preventable accident is a significant accomplishment that places million milers in a special class,” says Don Lacy, Prime’s director of safety. “Two million miles raises the bar to a level accomplished by a very small percentage of professional drivers.” The honorees included Julius Bradley (two million miles), Anthony McNabb (one million), James F. Daniel (one million) and Michael E. Farris (one million).

Marten Transport certified as pay leader
Marten Transport has been certified by an independent transportation institute as a top-paying carrier. The National Transportation Institute recently completed its annual National Driver Wages Survey. The institute reviewed detailed pay profiles of key truckload carrier company driver and owner-operator compensation plans. The institute found Marten Transport is one of the nation’s best for total compensation packages. “Marten has found ways to increase take-home pay when others were cutting, so this acknowledgment from NTI is a validation that we are at the forefront of driver offerings,” said Marten’s Director of Recruiting Tim Norlin.

Tango Transport announces percentage pay plan
Tango Transport flatbed owner-operators and small fleet owners now have the option of choosing between mileage pay or percentage pay when leasing on with Tango Transport. “We are pleased to be able to offer this option to our flatbed contractors,” says Joe Gabbard VP of Capacity Development. “Given the re-cent increases we have been seeing in flatbed rates, this is certainly good news.” The plan pays 75 percent of line haul revenue and 100 percent pass through of fuel surcharge and all accessorial fees.

Transport America salutes million-milers
Transport America announced the names of three drivers who achieved the One Million Mile Safety Award during the first quarter of 2010: Jessie Hill (who has been with Transport America since May 1997), Justice Bilson (who began his driving career with Transport America in February 1998) and Michael Mohr (who has been driving for Transport America since July 1998). Approximately 10 percent of the Transport America driver force (both company and owner-operators) has driven a million, accident-free miles or more.
