Meeting….Roehl driver rolls past three million miles
Truck driver Alan Matyka of Roehl Trans-port recently received a rare honor, the Three Million Mile Safe Driving Award. The achievement reflects not only Matyka’s professionalism and skill, but also Roehl’s twin values of safety and driver success. Matyka is the company’s sixth active driver to reach the milestone.

Marten Transport recognizes Drivers of the Month
Marten Transport recently recognized 37 Drivers of the Month for October 2008 and another 30 for November 2008. Qualifying drivers must meet a minimum of 10,500 miles for that month, no accidents during the month, in addition to 100 percent on-time deliveries.

Con-Way driver reaches milestone
Con-way Truckload announced that company driver Herb Mitchell has reached the elite career milestone of three million miles of safe driving. Mitchell is the ninth Con-way Truckload driver in the 57-year history of the company to achieve that record. A professional truck driver since 1962, Mitchell joined Con-way Truckload in 1981.

Landstar salutes Employees of the Year
Landstar System named Hellen Heimert and Latosha McFarlin Employees of the Year for 2008. They were chosen as the best of the best among the 24 Employees of the Month selected during 2008 from Landstar’s service centers in Rockford, IL and Jacksonville, FL. Heimert is a recruiting coordinator in the Capacity Development department in Rock-ford. McFarlin is a representative in the Compliance department in Jacksonville.
Maverick Transportation wins award
Compliance Safety Systems recently named Maverick Transportation as one of six recipients of its inaugural annual awards for customers who exemplify dedication to safety and overall compliance to D.O.T. regulations. “Maverick Transportation was honored for their dedication to going above and beyond the required regulations in keeping our highways safe,” said David Saunders, president of Compliance Safety Systems.
TMC Transportation helps make holidays bright
TMC Transportation launched a new holiday fundraiser last year called Boxes of Hope. Drivers and associates from TMC’s seven terminals worked together to fill 334 boxes with nonperishable food and necessary items. The Boxes of Hope were then donated to local charities that serve the homeless and struggling families.
WIT offers security device
The Women In Trucking Association offers professional drivers a new security solution for their cabs. The Sleep Secure Strap System, developed by CGM Security Solutions, uses the vehicle’s own structure to secure the strap by inserting the end brackets into the door channel above the windows. The Sleep Secure Strap features a quick release clip in case of an emergency or hasty exit.
