Schneider’s Bulk offers new service
Schneider National is leveraging its 40-year history in the long-haul bulk business by expanding into the local and regional bulk hauling arenas. Within the last year, Schneider introduced shorter length of haul capabilities to shippers in four U.S. markets, with expansion into additional markets planned for later this year. Schneider Bulk’s local and regional service operates out of terminals in the South, Midwest and Eastern United States.

LinkAmerica purchases new headquarters
LinkAmerica Corporation acquired property for a new corporate headquarters in Tulsa, OK. The new space, which totals over 70,000 square feet, will help accommodate the company’s significant growth. The building, which formerly housed an Albertsons store and regional corporate office, will undergo a major renovation over the next few months.
Con-way drivers honored
John Dillon, a Con-way Freight driver based in Atlanta, was named 2008 Driver of the Year by the Georgia Motor Trucking Association. Dillon was chosen for the honor due to his long record of safe and courteous driving in the state. Meanwhile, Con-way Truckload honored the following May Drivers of the Month: Stanley Catlett (company driver), James and Charlene Suel (company team), Jim Cory (contractor) and Sokphat Sao and Mom Prom (contractor team).
Magnum announces pay raise
Magnum Express announced that effective June 29, all company drivers and owner-operators pay will increase by ½-cent per mile. Magnum owner-operators will also receive additional seniority pay of 1-cent per mile on their first anniversary and an additional 1-cent per mile on every third year anniversary.
RoadLink acquires C-Truck
RoadLink has agreed to acquire CP Ships Trucking Ltd. (C-Truck) from Hapag-Lloyd (Canada) Inc., subject to review by Investment Canada. Upon closing, RoadLink will launch a new alliance with Fastfrate to operate selected locations and further enhance their combined capabilities for customers across North America.
A. Duie Pyle wins award
A. Duie Pyle received PPG Industries’ Excel-lent Supplier Award for superior accomplishments in 2007. The carrier is the only distribution resource provider to receive the prestigious award from PPG three times. “As one of our key suppliers for transportation services, A. Duie Pyle was an outstanding performer,” said PPG Vice President Kathleen McGuire said. “Their quality, service, delivery, documentation and innovation have been exceptional.”
Ludwig joins Old Dominion
Old Dominion Freight Line announced the addition of Ken Ludwig as the vice president of Human Resources. Prior to joining Old Dominion, Ludwig gained exceptional knowledge as a senior vice president of Human Resources at Culp, Inc. for 22 years. In addition, Ludwig worked for 10 years in human resources at Cannon Mills Company and Cone Mill Corporation.
