ACT and EPA join forces to lower emissions
American Central Transport, Inc. (ACT) has been awarded the right to use the SmartWay Partner Logo by the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership, a voluntary effort between the government and the transportation industry to develop and implement methods to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in transportation.

Schneider Logistics expands network
Schneider Logistics has expanded its brokerage services with the opening of a new regional logistics center (RLC) in Toronto, Ontario, a major transportation hub. This new addition is Schneider’s first RLC outside the United States.

Maverick Transportation names Drivers of the Month
Maverick Transportation announced the following Drivers of the Month: Bob Davis of Wynne, AR (February) and Steve Carlson of Biggsville, IL (March). Each driver is a leader in the company’s fleet and both have received numerous safety awards and company honors from the Arkansas-based carrier.

LinkAmerica names new division leader
LinkAmerica Corporation announced that Carl Bailey has joined the company to head LinkAmerica Dedicated, a new division of LinkAmerica Corporation. LinkAmerica offers dry van, dedicated and logistics solutions. In other news, LinkAmerica acquired G.H. Miller & Sons, a truckload carrier based in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
ACS launches transportation job recruitment site
Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS) launched JiggyJobs.com, a national interactive job recruitment Web site dedicated to the transportation industry. Presented by ACS Expedited Solutions, providers of TripPak SERVICES and ACS Advertising, the new site matches drivers seeking employment and companies seeking drivers and accelerates the entire hiring process through secure online data processing and Department of Transportation screening.
WIT member receives prestigious honor
Jeana Hysell joined the Women In Trucking Association last year because she wanted to network with other women who have found success in the trucking industry. Hysell has be-come a role model by being named the first Ohio Trucking Association’s Safety Profession-al of the Year award. Hysell is the Safety Director for Classic Carriers, Inc. in Versailles, OH.
Truckers raise $14,000 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters
The 2nd Annual O&S Truckers’ Challenge benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of the Ozarks brought in approximately $14,000 and helped the BBBS’ Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraiser exceed $100,000 in donations. Nineteen bowling teams participated in the challenge, including The Primates from Prime, Inc., who won the Truckers Challenge Traveling Trophy for the second year in a row, as well as the Top Fundraisers Trophy.
