Driven Women
Out of your wife’s way

Dear GG,
After 25 years of dealing with the government, four wheelers, fuel prices, lying dispatchers, (bleeping) brokers, truck repairs, traffic, and (bleep, bleep bleeping) truckers, I’ve lost my patience! I’m not handing in my CDL, like you tell so many people to do, but I’m retiring it. I earned this CDL, and I ain’t giving it up.
So now what? If I stay home more than three days, my wife threatens to divorce me. I’m only 50, so I ain’t that old.
Good Gary,
Gainesville, FL
Good Gary,
I can’t blame you for wanting out, but you won’t be able to sit still for more than a week, and if you do, your wife might hit the road before she gives you the chance to.
You have plenty of career options such as safety, dispatch, fleet management/operations, local or national professional trucking associations, local route to drive or something completely different, like working at a home improvement store.
As long as it’s legal, ethical, moral, profitable and non-hazardous, don’t rule it out, Gary. Just find something to stay out of your wife’s way!
Cheers,
GG
