Arrow’s ‘Back On The Road’ winner
Arrow Truck Sales selected Donald Turkelson of Battle Creek, MI as the winner of its Back On The Road Contest. The contest benefits a deserving owner-operator in need of a truck and a job. Turkelson will receive a 2005 VNL 670 tractor donated by Volvo Trucks North America, a one-year work agreement with Heartland Express and other prizes.

Dart announces Contractors of the Month
Dart Transit Company announces its Dec-ember 2007 Contractors of the Month: Randy House at the Dallas Operating Center and John Kroll at the Eagan Operating Center. Contractors of the Month are recognized for their on-time performance, dependability and safety record. House has contracted with Dart since 2005; Kroll has contracted with Dart for eight of his 12 years in the trucking industry.

USA Truck marks Million Mile Club anniversary
USA Truck celebrated the 11th anniversary of the president’s Million Mile Club with an awards ceremony at the Holiday Inn City Center in Fort Smith, AR. The Million Mile Club recognizes the achievements of drivers who have reached various safe-driving milestones. USA Truck recognized 133 drivers who have accumulated an aggregate total of approximately 217 million safe-driving miles.

Greatwide salutes top 32 providers
As part of Greatwide Dedicated Transport’s ongoing commitment to programs that re-ward and encourage safe driving, the company recently invited its top 32 capacity providers and their spouses to a North Texas resort for Greatwide’s first ‘Driver of the Year’ three-day recognition event. Paul Hodgson of McCarran, NV was named Owner-Operator of the Year and Mark Gill of Newark, CA was named Company Driver of the Year.
ATS driver place third in TCA contest
Anderson Trucking Service congratulates driver Steve French, who placed third in the Truckload Carriers Association 2007 Driver of the Year Contest for Company drivers. French has been a driver for ATS since 1995 and has logged over 1.2 million accident-free miles. French is also a member of Highway Watch, a National Safety and Security program.
MATS sets attendance record
The Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY once again proved itself as the most powerful heavy-duty trucking industry event on Earth. With 1,174 exhibitors representing 47 states and 12 foreign countries, MATS 2008 forged its place in the industry record books by delivering the largest heavy-duty trucking event in history. More than 76,500 trucking professionals from all 50 states and 48 foreign countries attended the three-day event.
Con-way turns back speed governors
Con-way Freight has turned back the speed governors on its tractors in order to improve fuel conservation and cut emissions. Con-way has adjusted governors on its truck engines to run at a maximum of 62 miles per hour, down three miles per hour from previous settings. The move should reduce fleet fuel consumption by nearly 3.2 million gallons annually.
