E-mails, text messages, and now medicine? Proving that there’s virtually no limit to either imagination or smartphone apps, Apple recently received a patent for the technology needed to measure an iPhone user’s heart rate using a touch sensor built into the phone. TechCrunch explains that in addition to using the technology for fitness apps, it could also be used to enhance the biometric security measures used for controlling access to future iPhones.
