CVSA Roadcheck Inspections Set For Early June
CVSA, the organization representing commercial vehicle enforcement agencies throughout North America, will once again be conducting roadside safety inspections. This year’s dates are announced for June 4-6 for the annual Roadcheck safety inspection blitz. According to a report on the Roadcheck program in Overdrive Magazine, about 75,000 inspections occurred last year. These resulted in a 4 percent out-of-service rate for drivers and a 22 percent out-of-service rate for equipment.
To help drivers avoid becoming part of those out-of-service statistics, CVSA offers this handy checklist of key inspection areas.
Charlotte Mayor Tapped To Head DOT
Pending Congressional confirmation, Charlotte mayor Anthony Foxx has been named as Ray LaHood’s successor as the Secretary of Transportation. Generally well-liked in local political circles, Foxx was instrumental in coordinating the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte last year.
Prior to serving two terms as mayor, Foxx served two terms as a city council member. Both posts are part-time jobs in Charlotte. The mayor’s transportation background, however, is quite thin. Both the airport and the transit system serving the Charlotte-metro area are run by career administrators.
